According to CNBC, Tim Berners-Lee attended the Lisbon Summit "Web Summit
2022", he called on everyone not to just know that Web3 has become a popular keyword, but to understand the true meaning of this term. He first criticized the concept of Web3 based on blockchain: It is really shameful that the term Web3 is occupied by the people who work on the Ethereum blockchain. In fact, Web3 is not a network at all.

According to records of the World Wide Web Foundation, Berners-Lee proposed some key concepts for "Web 3.0" as early as the 1990s, such as open source, decentralization, etc., and defined it again in 2006.

Lee used the term Web3.0 in his project "Solid" and emphasized the difference with Web3, but the public often confuses the two. He said at the summit: Blockchain may be helpful for some things, but it is not helpful for Solid at all. Blockchain is too slow, too expensive, and too transparent. Private data storage should be very efficient, cheap, and private. sex. There is no need to pay attention to things that are randomly built on the blockchain. We do not apply blockchain technology to Solid.

In fact, Berners-Lee gave the same view at the TNW Summit in June this year. He believed that it is not feasible to achieve efficiency, scalability and privacy at the same time through blockchain technology.
