According to Cointelegraph, Vitalik praised the importance of the Dencun upgrade during the meeting, which significantly reduces the cost of L2 submitting proofs to the Ethereum main network, allowing L2 Rollup to achieve expansion.

He pointed out: The Dencun upgrade enables the Ethereum ecosystem to get rid of the Layer 1-centered pattern. The development stage of the Ethereum main network is in a slowdown stage, shifting from rapid updates to a stage that pays more attention to maintenance. In fact, I think there is the biggest change. The period has passed, which is great.

However, this does not weaken the importance of Ethereum as the underlying public chain, and it will still be the basis for L2’s survival.

Vitalik emphasized that technological advances in the L1 field, including zero-knowledge proof (ZKP), can further provide users with privacy protection and make it easier for L2 to create DApps. Compared with five years ago, the difficulty of building such applications has been significantly reduced.
