What are the tips for investing in Bitcoin? Lescrauwaet recently explained the company's investment strategy and five ways to invest to exceed Bitcoin's return rate when participating in an event. Adamant calls itself a "Bitcoin Alpha Fund", which means trying to outperform Bitcoin's performance. It also believes that Bitcoin should be used as a benchmark for the entire cryptocurrency industry, rather than borrowing from traditional financial investment frameworks like most current crypto asset funds.

"An effective Bitcoin investment strategy depends on the maturity of the market," Lescrauwaet said, adding that we have entered the "infrastructure stage" from the initial "exploration stage." There are still some technical risks in locking Bitcoin in the Lightning Network, a scaling solution, and it has not yet achieved real significance. Lescrauwaet delves into some strategies that today's investors should consider adopting.

1\. Avoid Bitcoin lending

Lescrauwaet said that in a bull market, lending Bitcoin for a year can earn about 2.5% interest. This is because the demand for Bitcoin is not large, while in a bear market, when people want to short Bitcoin, this figure reaches about 6% (2018 data). He said that for several reasons, he insisted that this was not a good deal. Counterparty risk remains an important factor, and there are also tax implications to consider, especially in the U.S.

2\. Using Bitcoin as Collateral

Bitcoin can be deposited with a custodian and used as collateral to borrow dollars, which can be used to buy more Bitcoin. It is also possible to outperform the interest paid on borrowing dollars through options, futures and other strategies. Lescrauwaet said this is Adamant's favorite strategy because the risk is relatively low, the return is relatively high, and it gives you the flexibility to monitor your returns on a daily basis.

3\. Calculating Bitcoin Cycles

It's not easy to use investments to profit from bull or bear markets, Lescrauwaet said. Data that others don't have can give you an edge in the market. But it's not easy to do. One of the indicators Adamant recommends is "Bitcoin relative unrealized gains/losses," an indicator of investors' overall gains in the Bitcoin market. He noted that Adamant's data shows that when gains reach 80%, the market tends to fall afterwards. Currently, he added, "we're around 40%, so there's still room to go up."

4\. Invest in "high-risk" altcoins

Investing in "high-risk" altcoins is one of the riskier strategies people are adopting, but it also means high returns, Lescrauwaet said. Investors often use the beta coefficient (risk factor; volatility coefficient) to measure the degree to which a particular stock is affected by volatility. The beta coefficient of the entire market is 1. So any stock with a beta coefficient greater than 1 is considered to be more volatile than the market. Lescrauwaet said that investing in high-risk altcoins will have the potential to outperform Bitcoin.

5\. Invest in cryptocurrency hedge funds

Lescrauwaet stressed that when using this strategy, it is important to research the fund's partners and investment performance, as well as its fee structure. He recommends funds with Bitcoin fees. Another key issue, he said, is the hedge fund's benchmark. He said using a traditional benchmark such as the S&P 500 means that the final result is similar to an equally weighted index. Bitcoin and Ripple each account for about 30%, Ethereum accounts for 27%, and other altcoins account for the rest. The problem with this mix, Lescrauwaet said, is that “it’s a completely subjective mix of heterogeneous projects.”

He argues that the price of Bitcoin itself should be used as a benchmark or index because its “monetary value is unmatched.” He added that using Bitcoin as a benchmark, “more than 92% of ICOs have underperformed Bitcoin.”

Adamant has always been bullish on Bitcoin. Earlier this month, the company’s co-founder Tuur

Demeester said we are not in a bear market. Instead, he insisted that this is a “post-ICO bubble Bitcoin bull market.” Most notably, he compared Bitcoin today to Amazon in 2003, calling it a “screaming buy.”
