I saw some newbies and some veterans who are not very good at using CGminer to mine. I would like to share this tutorial with you about CG related settings. If there is anything wrong, please correct me.

1. Preliminary preparation

1) CG software download

2) Selection of driver and SDK

It is recommended that the 5 and 6 series cards use 11.11 or 11.12 and 12.1 (11.X can also be used but the CPU will be fully loaded), and the 7 series cards use 12.3 or the latest driver. Please go to Driver Home to download the driver.

2. Mid-term configuration

CG can be configured using configuration files. Once configured, it can be used for life. It is simple, easy and stable.

The left side of the picture above is the configuration file, and the right side is the main program file. After the configuration is completed, double-click to open the EXE to mine. The shortcut to the exe has also been placed in the startup folder of the start menu to realize automatic mining at startup.

Use Notepad to create a new TXT file. After completing the configuration as follows, save it as cgminer.conf.

The full text of punctuation marks in the configuration file must be in English characters, please remember.

Each {} space represents a mining pool server address and the corresponding account number and password. Different mining pools are separated by English commas. Multiple mining pools can be added. Once a mining disaster occurs in a mining pool, the next mining pool can be automatically used for mining. Once mining is resumed, mining with the highest priority will be used.

2) Core parameters

Let’s take dual graphics cards as an example to illustrate:

"intensity": "9,9", intensity refers to the graphics card work priority. 6 is normal, D is automatic. The higher the number, the higher the priority. The one connected to the monitor is set to 6, and the others are set to 9.

, there are four kinds of kernels of diakgcn. Different kernels will have different speeds in different systems, drivers, and SDKs. The difference is generally between 10M-70M. When configuring according to preliminary preparation, it is recommended to use diablo, phatk kernel or diakgcn

"gpu-engine": "0-800,0-800" refers to the working frequency of the graphics card, which is overclocking. 0 is the default frequency and the value is the set frequency.

gpu-fan": "85,85", graphics card fan speed, this is a fixed speed, it is recommended to try setting it yourself, as long as the temperature can be suppressed.

"gpu-memdiff" : "0,0", the default is fine

"gpu-powertune": "0,0", is AMD powertune technology, 5970 and 6990 support setting it to 20, and setting it to 0 for others. "gpu-vddc" :
"0,0", graphics card voltage. Overclocking is generally accompanied by voltage adjustment, but only graphics cards with excellent workmanship can be pressurized. 0 is the default, add or subtract 0.001V at a time, lowering the voltage reduces power consumption and temperature. "temp-
cutoff" : "90,90", the graphics card stops working temperature. In addition, the temperature displayed in CG is the core temperature rather than the power supply temperature. There is a certain gap between the two. "temp-overheat" :
"80,80", graphics card overheating temperature "temp-target" : "72,72", graphics card target temperature.

The value behind the above parameters changes depending on the size of the graphics card. For example: single card "gpu-engine" : "0,", dual card "gpu-engine" :
"0,0", three cards "gpu-engine" : "0,0,0", four cards and three cards "gpu-engine" : "0,0,0,0", and so on.

3) The remaining parameters are generally unchanged, as follows: "api-port" : "4028", "expiry" : "120", "failover-only" :

Post-debugging In the later stage, the main focus is to adjust the GPU core frequency, voltage, fan speed, and kernel version. After resetting, open CG and run for about 3 minutes. After the speed is stable, select the corresponding parameters by comparing the speed.
