Under the digital currency craze, Bitcoin mining has become a topic of great concern. However, behind this seemingly glamorous industry, there is an unknown dark side. Recently, a shocking incident occurred in Suizhong area of Liaoning Province. Local residents discovered that a large amount of electricity had been stolen, and the culprit was a group of "electricity rats." These electricity rats make a living from Bitcoin mining, causing serious pressure and waste on the local power supply. This article will delve into the story behind this incident and reveal the energy waste behind the madness of Bitcoin mining.

The Rise of the Electric Mouse

Liaoning's Suizhong region has always been rich in coal resources, and its power supply has always been relatively abundant. However, as the price of Bitcoin soars, more and more people are pouring into the mining industry, hoping to gain wealth through mining. In this craze, some criminals also saw business opportunities and set up mining sites one after another. However, they did not use the power resources in accordance with the law, but stole power through illegal means. These people are nicknamed "electricity rats" by local residents. They operate at night, like thieves in the dark, stealing precious electricity resources.

The cost of energy waste

The behavior of electric rats has put huge pressure on local power supplies. According to statistics from the local power company, the local power supply loses millions of yuan every month due to electricity theft by electric rats, which not only causes economic losses to the power company, but also brings trouble to normal residents' electricity consumption. Frequent power outages make people live in an unstable environment, affecting normal production and life order.

Behind Bitcoin Mining

Bitcoin mining, as an emerging method of acquiring digital currency, has attracted a large number of investors and players. However, the huge computing power and electricity resources required for mining have also made this industry controversial. In China, especially in areas rich in coal resources, Bitcoin mining consumes a very high proportion of electricity, posing serious challenges to energy supply. The electricity theft behavior of electricity rats is just the tip of the iceberg of wasting energy in Bitcoin mining. What the entire industry needs to face is how to protect energy resources while developing and achieve sustainable development.

Social Responsibility and Supervision

In the face of electricity theft by electric rats, all sectors of society have called for strengthening supervision and severely punishing illegal activities. At the same time, the Bitcoin mining industry also needs to be more self-disciplined, comply with national energy policies, and reduce waste of power resources. Government departments should increase supervision of the Bitcoin mining industry, establish a sound regulatory system, standardize industry development, and ensure energy security. Only with the joint efforts of the whole society can the energy waste problem behind the crazy Bitcoin mining be effectively solved.

Conclusion

The issue of energy waste behind the madness of Bitcoin mining affects everyone's heart. We need to realize the preciousness of energy resources and cherish every kilowatt hour of electricity. Under the digital currency craze, we cannot ignore the sustainable use of energy and need to look at the development of the Bitcoin mining industry more rationally. I hope that through the introduction of this article, more people will pay attention to the issue of energy waste and jointly contribute to building an energy-saving and environmentally friendly society. May our future be better!

Suizhong police in Liaoning Province recently uncovered a gang that supplied electricity to 408 Bitcoin "mining" machines. The gang stole electricity worth more than 900,000 yuan in 85 days. The persons involved have been detained.

The Public Security Bureau of Suizhong County, Liaoning Province recently uncovered a gang that stole electricity to supply power to 408 Bitcoin "mining" machines. Since the equipment consumes a lot of power, in order to reduce costs, they resorted to stealing electricity to keep the equipment running. This group of "electricity rats" stole electricity worth more than 900,000 yuan in 85 days. Currently, 408 Bitcoin "mining" machines and more than 100 backup "mining" machines have been detained, and three people involved have been detained.

Jiang Hongxin, director of the Xidianzi Police Station of the Suizhong County Public Security Bureau, told reporters that the Xidianzi power supply line in Suizhong County is powered by the Wanjia 66 kV substation. The daily system loss rate of this line during the same period was less than 6% in 2018. Since 2019, Power loss soared abnormally, reaching a maximum of 32.58%. The Suizhong County Electric Power Department organized relevant personnel to analyze the causes of high line losses many times, but failed to find the crux of the problem, and subsequently reported the case to the police station.

After receiving the report, Jiang Hongxin immediately assigned the police to carry out investigation work. The police who visited Mopaizhong learned that a bungalow in a nearby village was rented out to a renter from out of town. Under normal circumstances, few outsiders come to rent a house here, and some villagers reported that there was often a loud roaring sound from the fan in the bungalow. It aroused the vigilance of the investigating police. During the subsequent visit, the police also learned that this family rarely opened the door, and the villagers rarely saw them. People drove around every day to "look out" in the surrounding area, which aroused the suspicion of the police. After further investigation, the police determined that the resident was suspected of major electricity theft and arrested two suspects.

"We saw at the scene that the bungalow was full of Bitcoin 'mining' machines and they were still running." Jiang Hongxin said.

The police handling the case found out that the two people were employed by a boss named Zheng. The electricity-stealing equipment was delivered by express delivery from Beijing and Nanjing and installed in November last year. In order to prevent the boss Zheng from escaping, the police handling the case promptly blocked the news and arrested him.

Zheng explained that they rented private houses in remote rural areas, modified the electrical wiring privately, and stole the electricity for more than 400 "mining" machines to mine Bitcoin for profit.

After verification by the police and the power supply department, the suspect Zheng and his accomplices stole electricity worth more than 900,000 yuan in 85 days. Currently, three people have been detained. The case is under further investigation. (Xinhuanet)
